Games People Play

Poems for kids ring o rosie illustration
A kid tries to understand why Ring O Ring O Rosie is fun!
Games People Play

I like playing Ring Around the Rosie,
but what’s a pocket full of posie?
And who the heck’s this girl called Rosie?
I’ve asked all over town.

Maybe I’m just being nosey,
But nobody knows why pockets of posie
or circling ’round some girl named Rosie
should make us all fall down.

I also like playing Mother May I,
and though I play it every day I
still don’t know what I should say, I
just don’t need this noise.

Why should I say Mother May I
have some scissor steps? Today I
think I’ll play a different way, I
think I’ll ask for toys.

1. Why do you think people play ‘Ring O Ring O Rosie’? And why do they all fall down

2. What are some other games you can think of that seem a little crazy when you think about it? Why?
